Hello everyone! I'm heading to Oaxaca next month and would love to explore places that aren't crowded with tourists. Any recommendations for some hidden spots or local favorites?

Definitely visit the small village of Teotitlán del Valle. It’s famous for its handwoven textiles and you can even visit local weavers to see how they make their beautiful rugs.

You can't miss trying Tlayudas in a local mercado! It's a giant tortilla with beans, cheese, and your choice of meat, grilled over an open flame. Mercado 20 de Noviembre has some great spots.

For a dose of history, check out the ancient ruins at Mitla. It’s less crowded than Monte Alban but equally fascinating with its intricate mosaics and unique architectural style.

These are great suggestions, thanks! What about local festivals? Any cultural events that are a must-see?

Try to catch the Guelaguetza festival if you’re around in July. It's a spectacular event where different communities showcase their traditional dance and costumes.

Also, if you’re in town for Dia de los Muertos in November, the cemeteries are beautifully decorated, and it’s a truly unique experience.

Always show respect when taking photos, especially during personal or religious activities. Ask for permission first, and be discreet.
