Hey everyone! I'm heading to Gjirokastër, Albania soon and I'd love to get some tips from those who have been there. What are the must-see spots? Any local food recommendations?

Definitely visit Gjirokastër Castle for stunning views and a peek into the city's rich history. Don’t skip the ethnographic museum inside, it’s very insightful.

You must try ‘qifqi’, the local rice balls seasoned with mint. They’re a Gjirokastër specialty. Find them at the bazaar – delicious and authentic!

Thanks for the tips! Both the castle and ‘qifqi’ are now on my list. Any other historical sites or activities I should consider?

Stroll through the old bazaar for some unique handmade crafts and silverware. It’s a great spot for souvenirs and experiencing the local culture.

If you're a fan of literature, check out Ismail Kadare’s house. It’s been preserved as a cultural center and offers a deep dive into the life of Albania’s renowned author.

Look for any events at the castle during your visit, especially in the summer. They host some enchanting concerts and performances.

Definitely visit the Blue Eye Spring. It's a stunning natural spring not too far from the city. The color of the water is absolutely surreal.

Consider Labova e Kryqit, a charming village nearby with an ancient church. It’s a peaceful spot for some quiet time away from city life.
